OnePlus Open comes with apps from Meta pre-loaded
OnePlus Open launched in India for Rs 1,39,900 which makes it one of the premium devices that you can buy in India.
The costliest foldable phone in the market, the OnePlus Open, surprisingly comes with preloaded apps, including Facebook, Netflix, and the Meta Installer app in the OxygenOS version.
OnePlus defended this decision, stating that they have worked closely with mainstream app developers to ensure compatibility with the new foldable design, aiming to enhance the user experience.
This move has sparked some criticism, as the OnePlus 8 series had previously featured Meta’s products but later removed them from newer generations. The re-introduction of these apps, including Meta Installer and Meta App Manager, may not sit well with consumers, especially considering their inability to be uninstalled. Additionally, other apps known for pushing ads are also pre-loaded.
Critics argue that if premium brands like Samsung can be scrutinized for pre-loaded ads, OnePlus should also face similar backlash, despite their claims of providing a seamless experience on their foldable device.
