Amazon Prime Video has secured the streaming rights to the movie “Sound of Freedom,” and it will be available on the platform on the day after Christmas.
“Sound of Freedom” tells the real-life story of Tim Ballard, a former Department of Homeland Security agent, and his efforts to combat child sex trafficking worldwide through his nonprofit organization, Operation Underground Railroad.
The movie is currently available for purchase or rental on the Amazon platform. However, starting from December 26th, it will be free to stream for Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the U.S., according to Variety.
Jim Caviezel, known for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ,” plays the role of Tim Ballard in “Sound of Freedom.”
In an interview with the Washington Times, Caviezel expressed his hopes that people would have the courage to watch the movie, emphasizing the importance of addressing the issue of child trafficking: “Our love for God’s children has got to be greater than our fear of evil.”
The faith-based movie has been successful at the box office, grossing approximately $242 million worldwide, according to Variety. Initially dropped by its original distributor Disney, the movie was funded through a crowdfunding campaign. As a result of its success, Angel Studios, the production team behind the film, paid back supporters $1.20 for every dollar they contributed.
“Sound of Freedom” also made waves in conservative politics, with former President Donald Trump reportedly watching it privately in July, as reported by the Guardian.
