Testing of Instagram Feed to Display Posts From Verified Accounts Only

Instagram is experimenting with new ways to encourage more users to obtain a verification badge. The social media platform, owned by Meta, has provided users with options to customize their feeds based on the accounts they follow. Now, Instagram head Adam Mosseri has revealed that the company is testing a feature that would allow users to view posts exclusively from verified accounts. The feature is currently in the testing phase, and Instagram is actively seeking feedback from users to further develop it.

In a post on his Instagram channel, Adam Mosseri shared a screenshot showing three options for feed preferences. Users will be able to choose between viewing content from “Following,” “Favorites,” or “Meta Verified” accounts. According to Mosseri, this new feature aims to enhance visibility for businesses and content creators.

The feature, which restricts Instagram Reels and posts to only those from Meta Verified accounts, is currently available to a select group of users participating in the testing phase. The company has not disclosed specific details regarding who has access to this feature or whether it will be rolled out globally or limited to certain regions. Instagram plans to use user feedback to refine the feature further.

It is worth noting that this feature could potentially incentivize more users to switch to a verified account. Meta’s recent policies allow anyone to purchase a verified badge for a nominal subscription fee. A company announcement stated that Meta Verified can be obtained through a monthly subscription of Rs. 699 for mobile apps on iOS and Android, or Rs. 599 for verification on the web version.

In India, to become Meta Verified on Instagram, users need to be 18 years old or above and provide an official government ID that matches the name and photo on their Instagram or Facebook account.
