How to Download Android 14 on Eligible Google Pixel Phones

Android 14 is now available for download on compatible Pixel smartphones. This update brings improvements to security and accessibility features, as well as on-device generative AI tools. One of the highlights is the ability to create unique lock screen wallpapers. While other smartphone manufacturers have yet to announce their plans for updating to Android 14, Pixel owners can enjoy the new OS right away.

During the recent Made by Google 2023 event, Google introduced the Pixel 8 series, which comes pre-loaded with Android 14. Additionally, eligible Pixel models including the Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet can also be updated to Android 14.

Some notable improvements in Android 14 include enhancements to the camera app. It now supports “Ultra HDR” images, provides improved zoom capabilities in third-party apps, and offers better image capturing in low-light conditions. The camera app can also scan documents like certificates or receipts, which can be stored digitally.

Android 14 introduces increased customization options for the lock screen, allowing users to choose custom lock screen clock designs and set shortcuts of their choice. The operating system also features a generative AI tool that can create unique wallpapers for the home or lock screen.

Enhancements have also been made to security. Users can now set a six-digit passcode with automatic unlocking, as well as utilize passkeys for logging into apps and websites without typing a password.

Those who rely on Android’s accessibility tools will benefit from better font scaling with larger font support, pinch and zoom functionality across the system, and support for connecting hearing aids. Additionally, a screen flashing option can be enabled to alert users of incoming notifications.

Android 14 introduces a new Health Connect API that allows apps to access health information from a central location. Apps can also access data collected by other apps that have access to the API.

To download the Android 14 update on your Pixel smartphone, go to the Settings app and tap on System > System update > Check for update > Download and Install. If you have already received a push notification regarding the update, you can skip these steps. After the update is downloaded, you will need to reboot your phone to complete the installation process.

Overall, Android 14 brings several new features and improvements to Pixel smartphones, enhancing the user experience and offering more customization options.
