A worker at a Goodwill store in Goodyear, Arizona, made a chilling discovery on Tuesday. Inside a box of donated items, they found a human skull complete with a fake glass green eye.
Local police were called to the scene and took possession of the skull. They sent it to the Office of the Medical Examiner to check if it is connected to any criminal or missing persons cases.
The Goodyear Police Department stated on Wednesday that the skull appears to be “historic” and is not believed to be linked to a crime.
A Goodwill manager at the Sarival & Yuma location reported finding what appeared to be a human skull in a donation box. GYPD transported it to the OME for investigation. The police are now focusing their investigation on the person who donated the skull, as well as a box of other taxidermied items.
“The box contained normal types of taxidermy, replica animal bones, things of that nature,” said GYPD Public Information Officer Lisa Berry at a press conference.
