Former Twitter San Francisco Headquarters No Longer Features Brightly Flashing ‘X’ Sign

The San Francisco headquarters of the company formerly known as Twitter no longer has a brightly flashing “X” sign. The sign was removed just days after it was installed, following 24 complaints received by the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection. The complaints raised concerns about the structure’s safety and illumination, as it was installed without the necessary permits.

The Elon Musk-owned company, which has rebranded as X, had previously removed the Twitter sign and blue bird logo from the building. However, the removal work was paused temporarily due to the lack of permits, leaving the “er” at the end of “Twitter” still visible. The city of San Francisco initiated an investigation into the giant “X” sign, which was installed as part of Musk’s rebranding of the social media platform.

The chaotic nature of the building signage rebranding mirrors the haphazard transition of the Twitter platform itself to X. While the X logo has replaced Twitter in various parts of the site and app, remnants of Twitter still remain. Representatives for X have not yet responded to requests for comment on the situation.
